Steel City Hardwood and Floor Company was founded by Mike Schlup on July 10th 2001, after working over 8 years in the hardwood flooring industry. He took his knowledge and expertise in the flooring industry, and started to build his vision to become the premier flooring company in Pueblo. From humble beginnings, starting the company out of his garage on Watermelon Drive in Pueblo West, his quest for perfection and quality laid the foundation for Steel City Hardwood. Over the next 22 years he acquired the best equipment and products available. Creating a large and loyal client base, he eventually moved into the current location on Silicon Drive. He personally designed and built the beautiful showroom, and stocked it with the best products available. After 30 years of faithful service and thousands of floors later, Mike decided it was time for him to retire and hand off the reins.

In March 2023 Mike met with a young entrepreneur named Nathan Haynes, who owned a flooring installation company for 4 years, and was ready to expand. After the meeting they came to an agreement, and as of April 1st 2023, Nathan was the proud new owner of Steel City Hardwood. Nathan quickly began to get new products in stock, expanded their online presence and began to lay the framework for his vision for the future of Steel City Hardwood. Nathans vision is to have the best products, the best service, and the best installation available. To expand Steel City’s reach in product delivery and service. But most importantly to ensure every customer is absolutely delighted with their walking surface, while providing everything at the best rates possible.
